IMPORTANT
:  If your mobile internet service is through HughesNet and you have not deployed your system in the past week, we strongly recommend you do so. If you experience connectivity issues, this may be due to a change in the symbol rate, polarization, or frequency used by the modem. These changes now occur dynamically and users must deploy their systems on a regular basis to avoid unexpected downtime. For MotoSat customers, please contact MotoSat customer support. They can help you make the necessary changes to your system to get you up and running again. See the link below for more information.

Lessons from Lutra

A common mistake among new VSAT users is the urge to save money on a smaller transmitter for two-way communications. If you are a recreational user who can live with the possibility of loosing connectivity during bad weather, than this may be a viable option for you. However, if you will need your system to perform on demand regardless of weather conditions, then you will require a larger transmitter.
How large? This really depends on the system. For example, a smaller sized dish will perform well with a 4 watt unit, but if you have a 1.2 meter system you will want to purchase a 6 or even 8 watt unit.
